How far do you commute?

My present commute is only 20 mi., but I have done 40. I only ride once a week, on Wednesdays. I ride for fun, not for transportation, and SoCal freeways are not in any way fun, so I ride surface streets when I can. One one of the 40 miler commutes I had in the past, I found a route that was all surface street and a fairly fun ride, so I looked forward to that one, but most are not.
