Yamaha, and Hannah, had effectively blown everyone's mind. It was a fascinating and historic time during the sport's history. The advancements in technology that were being introduced then were occurring at a seemingly exponential rate. More than any other bike, the OW27 epitomized the impact that the engineering behind these machines was having upon the sport at that point in time. Had Honda beaten Yamaha to the punch with their RC125M Type II, then they might be able to lay claim to such a designation. But as it turned out, that year in particular Yamaha won not only the battle but the war as well. It was a great time to be a fan of the sport.
