Sad state of affairs. I hope he recovers.
I read an article a while back about taxi drivers in India (I believe). It was making the point that to do that sort of job you have to have a very calm, zen-like disposition or it'll drive you crazy. Don't aggravate others and regardless of who might be at fault in a road "situation," let it roll off and stay calm.
I try to remember that when someone cuts me off or pulls out on me. Just let it go... no harm no foul. But I also try to remember it when I make a mistake out there. And I do make mistakes. If I screw up, I try to give an apologetic wave and let the other driver have their way.
