This is an on-going, perpetual argument. When I started riding in 1969, it was for fun, not for transportation, and it's still that way. Us Army guys could rent and buy bikes Thailand, but the Air Force guys could not. When I got out of the Army in '71, I of course got a car, but was soon shopping for a bike, strictly for fun. After I found a bike, my car took a dump and I had to ride the bike all winter, or what we call winter in SoCal, but we set a record for rainfall that year. I got soaked many times on the way to work or school, didn't have good rain gear, just a windbreaker over my three sweatshirts. Water down the back of your neck is no fun. I think every driver in every state should receive motorcycle awareness training and it should be on the DL test, especially for older motorists who alway say "I didn't see him!" because they weren't looking for him.
