How do you fuel up?

I was told by a gas station owner that it's provincial law here that you must dismount to fuel up, but I often see the riders mounted while filling up.
I've never researched it so don't know if that's true or not, but I have always dismounted. I prefer to have both feet flat on the ground.
Most of the time I use the center stand, but have used the center stand also - especially if the next station may be some distance and I need a completely full tank.
