You are right, ... and you are wrong. It depends on the type of power plant, on when it has been built, and how far away it’s located. To spare you a complicated, detailed analysis, let me give you an average number covering all sorts of (modern, more or less clean) power plants, all types and length of high voltage lines, and ignored the CO2 emitted in the process of building the plants and lines. If we managed to change /convert all our vehcles to electric in the US or in Western Europe, this would bring our transport related CO2 emissions down by about 50%. This value is not out of thin air, and it’s closer to reality than Goller’s biased assessment.
Good enough ? too bad ? worth the effort ? ... your judgement.
But be careful when people with high incentives at stake make declarations like this. It’s hard to argue with the boss who hired you for promote his point of view.
