Following up, museum was mobbed with people looking for air conditioned activities. Thankfully, Mrs. G moved our dinner reservation to an indoor restaurant, and we retired to the rooftop digs for a few drinks later that night after it cooled off just a bit, but was still rather 90-ish. The rooftop was rather swanky, with a pool and large gas fire pit with seating around it. The pool was pretty popular, but the fire pit was decidedly not.
Speaking of distraction, I think Southern Californians are at the end of their nerves with the heat. The overall discomfort is coming right as most parents are sending their kids back to school, and the combined aggrivation of the heat and added school traffic is noticeable. I've been on extra high alert with more aggressive and distracted drivers. There were two multi-car accidents this morning just along the 12 miles of freeway that I take to work. Still, I'd rather ride in the heat than sit in the traffic.
Luckily, this is supposed to be the last day of our triple-digit spike, and things should get back to normal by mid-week.
