The only part I liked was at :50 with the speed shift...but after the lack of down shifting, I'm not sure the clutch was even being used on the speed shift.

What's up with the lack of down shifting? Does anyone else do this?

I always let the clutch out in every gear even if for a split second....I like the way it sounds, I use the engine as a brake, plus then I'm always ready to accelerate if need be. (I do seem to remember stomping on it repeatedly coming into a corner on motorcross, just to make sure that 2 stroke was in 1st to launch out of the corner)

I'm not sure if it's because I was taught by my dad when driving cars to

1. keep the clutch out as much as possible to keep the "throw out bearing" from spinning excessively, wearing it out
2. or because the sychronizers worked better that way when shifting to/from the closest ratio gear
3. or because it might cause excessive slipping of the clutch when engaging a low rpm engine with a high rpm gear (although he taught me to "squeak the tires doing this to make it appear a little 6 cyl could bark the tires when up shifting when really you were braking the tires by letting the rpm drop before dumping the clutch....oh what funWink
I think the transmission works a little different on motorcycles (someone more knowledgeable can educate me on this)....but it's funny something you learned nearly 50 years ago sticks with you.
The splitting of lanes scares me!
