Another beautiful day in WNC, and so I decided to head out for a few hours' ride before the heat built up too much. I went over to pick up hwy 80, up to the BRP.

Stopped and took this pic at an overlook because if you know where to look, you can just see the lake that I live on, about 40 or so miles from this spot. It's just to the left of my mirrors, where the horizon meets the trees. Looks like little mud puddles, but hard to see in the pics, much clearer in person.



Then I continued on south on the BRP to the entrance to Mount Mitchell.

Then, I turned around, headed north for a brief stop in Little Switzerland. Too early for lunch at the Switzerland Inn, so headed north again to Linville, and got off for a nice burger at "Louise's Famous Rockhouse Grill". Then a brief jaunt across 183 to 181 south and back home. About 120 mile loop on a perfect weather day... though it was getting uncomfortably warm once I came down off the mountains!
