We did mandatory automobile emission testing every two years for decades for cars older than four or five years - if I recall correctly. Motorcycles were exempt.

That was scrapped a few years ago in Ontario, Canada.

We never had the emissions test, but do have the mechanical inspection every two years for all vehicles and bikes.
Vintage bikes registered as antique are exempt.
