Taken at John O’Groats, at the northeastern tip of Scotland. It is the furthest point from Land’s End in Cornwall which is considered the southeastern tip of the mainland.

I am sure the moderators will make an exception because that picture captures a moment in time that is truly Gaelic. It is stunning.

A lifetime ago, I lived in Aberdeen for a few months. The Scots were both amused and forgiving of my Southern United States accent. I still remember the warmth and kindness of the people 30 years later.

I was equally amused by how the entire family, including dogs, could be seen at the Pub together, happy and joyful. Later I observed that on occasion the entire family was placed into service to assist Dad return home after he had a round too many.
