I can't say that radiant engine heat has ever been a concern on my CB, then again I also ride an ST 1300 which puts off quite a bit of heat. Not an issue wearing mc specific pants and boots, but you would definitly feel it wearing jeans and gymmers on a 90 degree day.
I've averaged over 50 mpg (usually about 55 mpg) on every tank I've ever had on the CB ( except the first tank which I believe averaged 49 mpg) as long as I wasn't on the freeway travelling over 70 mph, then it drops into the mid 40s. I have gone 225 miles multiple times and have never put more than 4.1 gallons in that I recall. I'm sure I could go 250 miles on a tank, but it would be close. When on the freeway on a trip I will refill at approx the 150 mile mark. When just ridng backroads I will fill up at the 200 mile mark approx. btw I average 46 mpg on my 1300cc 700 pound ST.
It's all in the right wrist baby! Lol
