Get a good textile jacket in the mean time. Having a couple go to jackets is nice. I'd prefer a textile in the rain over leather in any event. Good textiles will hold up in a crash as well if not better than leather (leather looks better though). I don't have a leather riding jacket anymore so I may be a wee bit biased.
