When I was young ... don't you hate stories that start like this?

When I was young and a motorcycle was my only form of transport and I lived in Tasmania way down in the Roaring 40s where it blows hard and there's lots of rainy days but not a lot of rain by volume, I used to have to ride in the rain a lot. I didn't like it much and I still don't, but I've some suggestions:
[li]Good wet weather gear to stay as dry as possible. Include something to keep your gloves dry. Hands get cold really fast.[/li] [li]What Ferret says—slow down, take longer to brake, try to keep the bike as upright as possible.[/li] [li]Stay away from road paint—it's nasty slippery stuff. So are metal things like manhole covers and tram rails.[/li] [li]Allow an even bigger space from cars if you can. I don't know what it is about the rain, but morons who otherwise never drive feel the urge to get their cars out and give hands-on demonstrations of why they should never get their cars out.
[/li]
If you can and you have one, take the car.

Nice pictures Stackman. The bike looks good.
