Newfoundland is one of our island provinces that you can only get to by air or many hours on a car ferry. I've done both once and the last time was by motorcycle exploring the western coast which is the most scenic.
Nova Scotia is part of the mainland, bordered to the north by the province of New Brunswick and to the west of NB by the state of Maine, then south into the New England states.
Continuing to the north west through NB takes you across Canada.
Google "Canadian Maritime provinces" for a map and you will have a better sense of the geography.
When I learned that EGALvarez was going to do the trip in the short time he had, I knew he was going to spend long days in the saddle and would miss a lot along the way. But I have to say that he covered a lot of territory and did see a lot in spite of the short time frame
