RE: "There's a road I'd like to tell you about...

Our riding time together was coming to an end; at least for this morning. We would continue from Glencoe, through Highland Park and Highwood and into Lake Forest where we made the left turn away from the Great Lake. Along this last leg, we past a pair of architecturally significant synagogues, at least one Frank Lloyd Wright "Prairie School" home, the Ravinia Park outdoor music venue, Fort Sheridan and Fort Sheridan Cemetary, and the campus of Lake Forest College.

Maybe it was the truck we were forced to follow for a mile or the SUV we had to follow for another mile or maybe my mind was working on finding the fastest route from Lake Forest to the restaurant (I had made a reservation for 11:30 and didn't want to be late), but I failed to take any pictures along this part of our ride. Maybe, though, I subconsciously skipped the photos so as to have an excuse to repeat this ride with these riders sometime in the future. Who knows, but the reader will have to use his imagination or refer to Google and/or other field reports I have contributed to this forum from this area.

On the Wednesday or Thursday before our Saturday ride, I received a message from a riding friend of mine, Kelly, that she and another friend, Bill, were riding to a vintage bike show called Motoblot and would I be interested in joining them. I bribed my son to cut the grass and clean the gutters (my tasks for the afternoon) and suggested that they meet us for breakfast since they would be riding right past us and at nearly the exact time we would be sitting down.

Kevin's Place on Waukegan Rd. in Deerfield is a nice little storefront diner. I have been ther a few times before. I chose it over some other great breakfast spots because of the large parking lot right behind it and because the food was good and the service was friendly and attentive. Kevin's did not fail us on either count.

Kelly and Bill are both Kawasaki riders; she on a Ninja and he on a KZ1000. I managed to remember my camera and snapped off a few, a very few pictures. My apologies to Veech, but since he sat on my immediate right (force of habit from the morning's riding order, perhaps) I was unable to get him in frame.

"Goodbyes" and "Safe Travels" were exchanged, last minute directions for the various return trips were calculated and we parted ways. I headed off with Kelly and Bill back south and deep into the city for Motoblot.

I will post a few pictures and comments from my afternoon as an addendum to this thread. For now, though, it was a beautiful day, with beautiful bikes, and beautiful scenery along the edges of a beautiful city. Thank you to my five fellow CBers for a wonderful day. I don't think that any of us had a bad trip and that most of us are hoping for an LSD flashback very soon.

There ain't no road just like it anywhere I've found. Running north on Lake Shore Drive, headin' out of town. Just slippin' on by on LSD, Saturday breakfast bound.
