That sounds Awesome (minus the 3 hour rain). I'm sure you will have those memories to easily go back to and revisit. Curious about the route you took? I work in Chicago and live about 50 miles southwest. I have been looking into riding the Peoria Loop... but Lake Michigan would be cool!
