About the height.
Top of the Shikoku-Karst is about 1,400m. ( About 4,600 feet. )
So that place is cooler than my town.Smile
There is a long tunnel called Kanpusan-tunnel on the way.
It has about 5km. ( About 3.1 miles.)
That tunnel is like a natural air conditioner. Ha ha ha

There are many good sceneries here in Japan even though the space of islands are much smaller than your country US. Ha ha

Not to be fussy, but my country's Australia. It's also pretty big but lacks the scenic variety of the the US. And Japan too, perhaps.

I happen to love the desert so, though I've never been there, the scenery I've viewed is astonishing and varied. There is certainly plenty of space for everyone there, but (sorry but I have been waiting for a chance to say this):

"When you go to Australia, declare everything."
