Being a heavier guy I was advised to by pass the SV650 starter because I would need to put too much into suspension. I'm thinking an early fuel injection era (2001-2005) 600cc supersport for between $2000-3000 and I'll probably run a street tire at first. The guys on the SV650's had a hard time keeping up with me on the CB1100. It has some to do with speed, but more to do with the fact that I couldn't stand to see my precious CB1100 Sliding across the track/grass. Which if you ride track is an eventuality. And from my observations in most cases, not a big deal. If I have a 2003 CBR600 and it goes for a little slide, no big deal.
Sounds like your set.. Only thing I can offer if I was in your shoes, I would look at a 06 r6 or later. That bike was a radically change forward. It absolutely sucks on the street but when I almost bought one (bought a big ktm 990 instead) it was near telepathic in direction changes. It was a pure track tool and less of a streetbike.
If you ever make it to beaver run, vir, or summit point, Let me know I'll help out in the pits
