Welcome, Valkyrie, from another '13 owner in California. Yeah, the Givi rear box isn't pretty, but it's darn practical. I'm a daily commuter (when we're not experiencing an "atmospheric river"), and now can't live without mine.
Yeah, I missed my CB750s and my last rendition was a '93 Nighthawk 750 that I sold to a friend when parts became a little hard to source. I imagine that bike is still kicking somewhere. The CB1100 is a great tribute to the 750 and feels like riding a bigger, more powerful version of every Honda inline-4 I had in the past.
