Those bee encounters are not fun. They always try to outrun bikes, so you hit their stinger when you catch up to them!
So I impaled myself on the bee stinger?!?! Now that was silly of me.

A few years ago my wife and I drove to Oregon to visit the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville. I have flown into Oregon before but never driven there.
At the first gas stop after we were passed the state line I started to gas up our Suburban. The fuel attendant ran over and stopped me. I thought he would call the cops! I had no idea that the law prohibits gassing up your own vehicle!
Does that law also apply to motorcycles? I would be very reluctant to allow anyone else to gas up my bike.
The same thing happened to me when I was visiting for a job interview about 20 years ago. I was at the coast and the rental car needed a fill, so I stopped and began to fill and a guy comes running out telling me to stop, asking what the heck I was I doing. I had no idea. I hate that law. Whenever I'm in Washington I always fill my cars whether they need it or not just because it makes me feel manly.
When I first started riding motorcycles in OR, back in 2003, a few gas attendants would ask me if I wanted them to fill, but nobody has done that for a long time. If they're not busy they tend to watch me fill I guess to see if I'm doing it "right"? What they do ask is if I want a paper towel to wipe off any gas I spill.
