Glad you found inspiration and insight, Whoops. I think we’re all guilty of overlooking our own back yard. I grew up in Virginia, taking all the history and rich culture for granted. As I travel other parts of the country, I notice many places have little history or unique culture and seem a bit bland by comparison. I also never fully appreciated the mountain geography of Virginia until moved away I traveled back there as an adult.
One time I did a ride report on some areas around here that ferret knows well. He responded similarly to you: that it was strange to see someone else’s take on things with which he was so familiar.
You live in an amazing part of the world! I’m sure I’ll be back again sometime.
