Thanks The ferret, it's fun putting a road report together...I can share with folks here and also link for family and friends...sometimes they even bother taking a look!

As mentioned previously, I started the trip on my KLR650--never really considered taking the CB1100, in part because the rear tire already needed replacement. When the KLR started acting up, my options were to take the CB and deal with the tire if needed or not go. I kept an eye on the tread (or lack of) and in parts it was bald, but nothing "poking through". Not ideal way to do a trip, but I'm glad I did it. Got another 1000 miles out of the avon roadrunners I had on.

Just got new Avon Roadrider Mk II Tires installed...$604 as opposed to $450 two years ago. Whew! Things have gone up a bit.

Very happy though with the Avon Roadrunners...I got 11,400 miles from the set they took off. The front looked like it could go another 2-3 thousand. The back was shot...not sure why the difference as I don't ride 2-up, long trip luggage is not that heavy and I keep tires inflated as recommended.

Rode away from the shop and it felt as if I were riding on air, or had my dancing shoes on, light on its feet sort of thing. Might have time for one more trip this summer...back to the Oregon high desert on the KLR650--I think I have the surging / lurching issue sorted out. I've been wanting to ride in the Snake River / Hell's Canyon area for a number of years.
