But that still doesn't absolve him from his responsibility to ensure that the road, IN EITHER DIRECTION, is clear before he starts to make his turn.
You could be held more liable if it was a properly-constituted road junction, with signs and road markings, but not under these circumstances.

What did the following car's occupants have to say about "speed"? Is there a speed limit on this bit of road?
i am still waiting for the police report. speed limit on the straight portion where i attempted my pass was 55 mph ... given that he was going very slow that's probably how fast my pass was. on a naked bike i don't cruising over 60 mph.
