I have had three rotator cuff surgeries.
Best advice from my PT:
When he said I was ready "Find a river or beach or stream and gently throw small stones (strawberries) into the water. Slowly, with range of motion. Don't worry about how far the stones are traveling. Just concentrate on a smooth slow range of motion eventually raising your arm high above your shoulder. Don't use your wrist. That's cheating, and there is no prize. It shouldn't hurt. Stop if it does. You're not ready yet. Make a game of targeting something in the water." Worked better than anything else.
