I do not like a shield on my bikes and never had one on any of them, I do not mind the wind ,even on an Interstate.
In the winter I use a scarf or my EVS RC1 neck collar, this really keeps the cold and noise down in your helmet.
I always use earplugs as well but the scarf/ collar helps greatly for noise reduction.
