Not sure about deals on new ones but if you have to have ABS you will have to get a 2013ABS or a 2014 DLX or a 2017 EX I believe. The other models don't have ABS

Yep, I lurked for quite a while!

So my cycle trader search results show new 2017 EX's for around that amount. I did spot some 2013 DLX's for around $5-7$k but it's a 7 year old bike at this point, so will probably need at least all the rubber bits (tires, gaskets, etc) replaced.

In Canada, it's even more bizarre. Autotrader.ca doesn't even bother listing the CB1100 any more, and the few results that do pop up are all 16k kilometer (10k miles)+ machines that are going for dang near MSRP! They aren't even the RS version usually.

In summary, I am still keen on getting on the CB1100 bandwagon but am not sure how to go about getting a properly good deal on one.

Ah crap. Depressing.

Ah crap. Depressing.
I think they opted to go the route of 'neo Sports Cafe' and have released the CB1000R as a spiritual replacement for the 1100. It's still an utter shame that they don't at least have some legacy page on their website.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the msrp on the '17ex new was over 12k, so they have come down a bit. I bought my '17ex for 10k back in in feb of '18. You're coming up on riding season so a dealer may want to see if it'll sell this spring / summer before going lower. But come october, I'd bet the price would fall.

I also bought a '14 standard in Jan of '16 for 7.5 grand and it's msrp was 10 I believe. I think eventually a few of those sold for 6k new but there were a boat load of those available all over the state for some time. The number of '17ex imported was far far less I'm sure.

But you could always make 'em an offer, say 8750 for the '17, and you're ready to buy today! (they always seem to ask me "what has to happen for you to buy the bike today?...well, tell them)
