Sorry for the hijack. I have been seriously considering a '19 SV650X. A white one caught my eye at the shop and have heard good things about the V mill. I would like to hear your experienced view of the motor. If you don't want to continue here perhaps a write up in the "Other Bikes" section? I can't get this dang bike outta my head and want to own a V, never have.

Hi Bhezzy. I've put about 120k miles on DL650s and think it is one of the best motors out there. As far as power, I think it's on par with the CB1100 overall. As Ferret says, it lives in a higher rev range, but you adapt to that quickly. It does not feel strained at all, and vibration is a comfortable thrumm, not the high-frequency buzz that is fatiguing to me on the CB11. Many times, I have forgotten to shift into 6th at freeway speeds because it was fine in 5th.
My first V-Strom was a 1000, which I sold because it's highway sweet spot was 80-90 mph. On the open road it just felt comfortable there, and when I backed it down to legal speeds, it wanted to creep back up - no good in LA traffic. On the 650, it likes 70-80 mph.
Since I no longer have to commute, I have seriously considered selling the V-Strom and buying a new SV650. It is so light, so reliable. I have never had a single problem with my Suzukis.
