The ECU is under the tank. The instrument cluster is just plug and play. No flashing needed. There are obviously electronics in the cluster but nothing to flash. On your bike the cluster communicates with the ECU by a serial data line.
Not sure of the unbolting required, I’d have to check the manual and look at my bike. It isn’t difficult and a couple members have done it due to crashes or bike drops. It’s just an expensive part.
