I picked up a Tiros-K seat from KennyW a few years back. While the stock seat was fine for short trips, the relatively skinny forward part would get uncomfortable after about 4 hours. The wide flat Tiros-K works great for me on long hauls. I find that it allows me plenty of room to adjust my butt position. Now the only thing that gets really sore on a 700 mile day is my neck (need to get a lighter helmet).

The only adjustment I'm thinking of is some handlebar risers. With the extra seat height, I find myself having to stoop a bit more to reach the bars.

I bought a taller seat from forum member Jeffery Cory last year. Like you I found it altered my upright position, so I bought a set of GenMar pull-back risers. Unfortunately they are no longer made.

Yesterday morning I rode for 3 1/2 hours non stop, except for a quick gas stop. Normally the Honda seat would have me squirming within 1 1/2 hours.

I did develop a knot between my shoulders on the way home late in the afternoon. But as you mentioned that may be a result of the wind blast on my heavy bobble-head Bell MAG-9 open face helmet. I will try my Shoei RF-1200 full face helmet when the weather cools.
