About me: veteran rider (30+ yrs) so not looking for a track bike. I’m 51 so sport bikes are no longer in my cards (selling my ‘14 Thruxton). I have a couple ACTUAL vintage bikes, so I’m not looking to fill a long lost love. Just want a comfortable daily rider for in town and weekend rides.
As some have mentioned, you might be able to pick this example up for less money than the asking price. Generally speaking, at this point in time the majority of people who desire a CB1100 have already obtained one. This applies to all CB1100 models. So if you are really wanting a '14 DLX chances are that you'll likely find one eventually but the price will likely be closer to $5K than $4K. As has already been mentioned, you'll need to be rather patient to do so.
As far as the bike in question is concerned as it relates to your needs, I think it would make a fine choice, as would any CB1100. At a curb (wet) weight of 540 lbs., the 2013 (and 2014) Standard model is as light as it gets in the world of the CB1100. The '14 DLX model adds another 31 lbs. While the 2017 EX models weigh 22 lbs. more than the previous Standards. I personally would not trade my 2013 model for any of the other variations that came along later. I've used my CB1100 in precisely the manner that you've described when it comes to your own needs. I would be fine with the 6-speed transmission that came with the later variations, but I'm not willing to give up the looks of the 2013 model for any of the others that came after it. Your own preferences will likely end up setting the course of action that you decide to take.
