Anyone else have to fab up some adapter brackets?

Today I found out the hard way about the differences in the frame welded brackets throughout the years

Ohhhhh...that's just a bit off. Now if this were a cousin of my KLR650 I'd recommend the tried and true heavy duty zip ties.
