I guess be sure the tank edge does not have any exposed bare metal prior to applying the trim. Otherwise, moisture will eventually find its way inside the trim and fester around bare tank seam.

Hmmm...yes, you have a point there. I have to see how easy it is to remove this trim on a regular (annual?) basis to inspect & clean the edge.

This stuffs pulls on and off easily, holds its contours readily.

What I used to do when I had a dubious tank edge/seam was grease it (not too much and only in trouble spots) and push on the trim. That seemed to be fine for the life of the ownership. Since no one is going to see the seam paint under the trim, all was good.
