I had both the surgery and radiation treatments. The surgery was a piece of cake, I was put to sleep at 8:30 AM and woke up at noon. The next day I was home with no pain.

A half a year later another doctor was concerned my PSA number had creeped from 0.06 to 0.08. Up to 6 is considered normal and this was less than 1. Had I know what the 34 radiation treatments were going to do, I would left it a bit. I also got stabbed with a large needle that removed all the Testosterone from my body. I went in a 73 year old male and and came our 74 year woman with menopause. Sever depression and mood swings that almost destroyed my marriage. Diarrhea and frequent urination that left me house bound. Frequent hot flashes and night sweats that made eating and sleeping difficult. That doctor prescribed pills that either did not work or made things worse.

Fortunately the surgeon on one of his 6 month calls came to my rescue. He gave me a shot that removed the hot flashes and night sweats in less that week. With his help all of the problems were dealt in half a year.

So if you are contemplating which process to use, I would recommend the surgery, and avoid some radiation doctor that is looking for a lab rat to test.
