RE: The mountable gadget I'd like to see
To the original post, the BMW Navigator VI that comes with the GS1250 has everything asked for except for the literal barometer measurement. The display can be configured to provide both a compass heading and altitude (based on map terrain info stored in the device) on the moving map along with weather. The weather requires that you link your phone. Unfortunately, in my case anyway, synching the phone to the system screws up the connection with ear buds or helmet comms systems. You can fix this by menu diving at each startup, but that's no fun. The BMW device is just a re-packaged Garmin nuvi. Display is great, and I'm sure that it'd work well on any bike. I usually just configure the thing to display the map, which is good from time to time for situational awareness....and I also like to be able to look down at a glance and see what the current speed limit is for those small towns that like to set speed traps.
With regards to actual directions while riding, I find that I don't need a map at all. Audio instructions over the headset from the phone works perfect and will always be more reliable than any vehicle specific GPS device.
