No more tuning CB1100??

It's too bad that Guhl no longer provides the service. I have a 2013 CB1100, and had him work on my ECU seven years ago.

My first change to thew bike was to install the full Yoshimura black exhaust system. I reminded me very much of the Kerker pipes I used to see in the 70's. I didn't bother looking up old pictures to see if that was really the case (Everything looks worse in black & white...). I noticed a little bit of improved performance, but really noticed, and enjoy, the new sound. This exhaust allowed me to retain the center stand, which is a good thing.

My second modification was to send the ECU to Guhl. I was desiring to remove the rev limiter and I thought the cost was quite reasonable. It did just what he advertised.

Next, I installed the Power Commander V. Accidentally wheelied the bike in the parking lot applying the same throttle as before the PC V. so I think the Power Commander did something.

Then I had the bike dyno-tuned. That seemed to create very linear acceleration, with no bumps or stutters. Again, the cost seemed quite fair.

The full package combines to make the bike "different" than the two other stock CBs I have ridden to compare the "improvements" (in my mind). I didn't particularly like the slightly anemic performance of the stock bike. My bike is very enjoyable to me. Just more "entertains" to ride.

But I have decided to sell my CB in the next month. It only has 3,600 miles on it, since I have several other motorcycles to ride, and my passion is adventure riding. It seems that there are a LOT of inattentive drivers trying to kill me on Tacoma's city streets. So I prefer gravel roads and exploration over local rides.

In addition to the modifications above, I also bought the Ohlins rear shocks. I ordered black springs so the bikes inherent classic beauty wouldn't be gobsmacked by bold colors. I also installed the Racetech fork cartridges. And heated grips. And other things I don't recall at the moment. Oh...the Daytona seat which is very comfortable!

It will be interesting to see what those extras equate to in pricing the bike.

In general - modifications /extras on cars or bikes don't really add much, if anything- to a sale. You really have to find the right buyer who wants that stuff enough.

Typically you come out much ahead to take off those parts- put the stock parts back on and sell them separately.

Power commanders are a dime a dozen.. so not much value there, but since the Guhls ECU is no longer made, I am sure someone would buy that..maybe even at a premium over what they used to cost.
