If you ride faster than the wind speed, is the windchill on your bike based on the speed at which you are riding or the sum of the actual wind speed and your riding wind speed? OR is there a separate calculation that needs to take place? Does the bike windchill change if you are riding into a headwind versus a cross or tail wind?

@Ferret - I'm the same regarding using windchill or rather not using it. There are motorcycle windchill charts out there and I'm sure there have been multiple postings here of those over the years, but most of them start at an outside temp of +15f and go up from there. I suppose the chart makers assume that anyone riding at below +15 is too stupid to read the chart. LOL

Windchill is a big deal in southern Ontario where the winter air is quite moist compared to Saskatoon, Manitoba or Calgary, Alberta.

If the wind is 0 speed, then the windchill will be calculated as the speed of your ride and assuming no windshield.

If the wind is a headwind, then add the two relative speeds together. Example: If you are riding at 60 and the head-on wind is 20, then the windchill to be factored in is 80.

Conversely, if traveling with prevailing winds, then windchill will be then difference when the ride is traveling faster than the wind.

Summertime it is all about humidex and southern Ontario cannot escape it. The higher the humidex (i.e. because of the humidity), the more difficult it is for the body perspiration to evaporate.

Pick your poison: 112F dry oven heat of southern Arizona, or 112F clingy wetness heat of southern Ontario (and Georgia, Florida, etc.). In both cases, you still need to drink water.
