Welcome, MikeScott. Sure you'll get plenty of information here. I have an LED H4 bulb similar to Peterbaron's. Like his, all of the electronics are on the bulb side, not the socket side, so anything hot is inside the headlight shell and not behind it where all of the wiring is bundled inside the headlight bucket.

I ride year-round, and find an LED bulb to be a big improvement at night.
