Never Say Never

(09-18-2020, 07:27 AM)redbirds_imp Wrote: Well, I did this afternoon what I said I would never do back in 2014, I sold my CB1100. The buyer is a good friend who lives nearby so at least I'll get to see the old steed frequently and I did tell him he could come by and use the lift when servicing his "new" bike.

Now to find a new ride, lighter and a bit easier to move around in the garage like Sparky's NC700X. There are some unsold NC750X models around and I'm looking that way first. I'll stay with the forum as I can't imagine a finer group of motorcycle enthusiasts than those I've met here.

Congratulations - I think (?) redbirds. Your path is ominously familiar.

You may recall I had a '14 CB and a red/silver '18 NC750XD. I leveraged Mickey as a catalyst and suddenly got the NC750XD. In terms of a daily commuter, the NC was excellent. Somewhere buried in the CB1100 Forum there is my review. As others have also said, Manual Mode will get a lot out of the 750. Even the S1 Mode is not bad for general use. Avoid Drive Mode, unless you wish to be lulled to sleep.

I miss the CB and the NC is no CB, but it offers different enjoyments and mind-blowing fuel economy. A more sinister side of the NC DCT led me to the Africa Twin. This is a whole different game. So don't enjoy the NC too much, you might get other ideas.

The CB1100 always attracted friendly eye-gawkers. Surprisingly, and quite weirdly, the NC attracted fanatics too, almost as many as the CB. To each their own I suppose. The Africa Twin gets almost as many cat-calls as the CB, and some are window pounding! lol. Again, I don't know why. The CB has a class level that can't be compared. But my last three Hondas definitely got ride-time attention from other drivers.

Side note: I was told Canada will finally get the Monkey in 2021. That is an option we can all ride post-CB1100.
