That would be a '96 model. In the late model '91-03 series, they all came in red or black with the exception of Tahitian Blue in '93 and Pearl Yellow in '96.

The 550 was only offered for a single year. It was a bit more cruiserish than the other Nighthawks, with a stepped seat and buckhorn bars. It was a nice bike. I don't know about 64hp, though. I've seen dyno charts for stock models and it's more like mid to upper 50s rwhp.

Yeah, I meant 64 at the crank. Mid to high 50's out of a 550 is laying it down imo. Its probably a peaky engine but still very impressive for its size. Ironically, there is a yellow 96 750 near by me for sale that is as clean as a pin. Guy wants 3K for it with 15K on the clock.
