Isn't that a cuss? At my age, (50ish) and with a perfect driving record, any high performance bike I priced insurance for was thousands. GEICO initially priced the CB in that segment. It wasn't until I got a supervisor on the line to look at the bike on Honda's website that I was able to get the premium down from a couple thousand to a couple hundred. Insurance for bikes in FL is optional if you don't finance, but who wants to risk $10k or more?
I think its a direct result of allowing any putz with cash or credit to buy any bike they feel like with virtually no training or testing at all. I watched a sales guy explain the clutch and gearshift to a kid who had just bought a used R1 at the local dealer. The kid never made it home...he rode the R1 straight into a telephone pole a few miles away.
