MotoGP - Gentlemen tune your DVRs
#5
Thumper, it seems Dani's real value to Honda is how many points he keeps Yamaha riders from getting. In 133 MotoGP races he has had 25 wins and been on the podium 84 times. If Lorenzo had won just one of the races Dani won last year, he would have been Champion instead of Marquez. That's a lot of points Yamaha riders didn't get, plus he is always in the hunt for the championship, he just can't seem to win it. When it seems that there is a chance, something stupid happens to him like Marquez clipping him, or breaking his collarbone. Out of the last 8 seasons, he has finished either 2nd or 3rd six times. And to think the rap on Pedrosa was he wasn't big enough to race MotoGP bikes. Undoubtedly the best MotoGP racer to never win the Championship. Not the most stellar personality, but he has his moments when he smiles and is happy. I wonder how great a racer he would have been considered if he had stayed in the 250 class where he won 50% of the races he entered over a 2 year period.

Marquez is like a kid at his first circus in comparison. Fun to watch race (although he makes me watch between my fingers sometimes..the kid has no fear) and fun to watch off the track as well. A real gem signing for Honda.

I think Yamaha is thinking Rossi is going to play the same points spoiler role for Yamaha that Pedrosa plays for Honda. Rossi's problem is you have to get in front of the guys you don't want getting points, and Rossi is having an issue with that. He is clearly faster than the non factory guys, but spent too many races last year circling around by himself because he couldn't keep up the Pedrosa, Lorenzo and Marquez.
