A lot of people say they like the R1200RT better and I agree.
But until BMW gets their sh*t together with regard to quality control, I wouldn't own one unless it was under warranty. Even then, I personally know a couple of people that formerly owned a K16 and had lots of issues. One bike's engine would just suddenly cut off. It happened while he was in the left lane of an interstate and he was lucky he wasn't run over. After the bike spent three months at the dealership and they still couldn't figure it out, he traded it in on a GS. I've also heard that every K16 sold in the first year had at least one water pump failure, some people opted to carry a spare new pump in their saddle bags when away from home.
