Carburetor Cleaner
#4
I have an 05 1200 sportster roadster that I bought on Ebay last year. The carb is very easy to work on. Harley manual or youtube will guide you. How old is the gas? Any mice nests? Check the aircleaner. Remove the carb, then floatbowl. check passages for obstructions or debris. carb spray with plastic straw is useful. Good time to remove mixture plug to access mixture screw. Also carb part suppliers have on line videos. Have a nice clean work area. Use the proper size screw drivers. jets are brass, snug, not overly tight. It might be something simple. My Roadster was running lean and terrible. 3 turns out on the mixture screw, was at 3/4 of a turn, now starts and runs great. Make sure you don't have a vacumn leak. It took an hour of my time, no money and I learned something...Good Luck
