I owned a Griso. A Tenni Green. When it wasn't shorting out, filling my garage with acrid smoke, or sidelined waiting for three months for a new harness, it was a sweet bike. But the Thruxton R is infinitely more modern, better handling, lighter and smoother. Just as much 'character,' whatever that means, but likely less of a heart breaker. That being said, I dug the Italian beauty, and I'd have another Griso, but only if my wife's family owned a Guzzi dealership.
