They had a tank and mixing system that was controlled by the throttle. My first two bikes were Yamahas. A 1966 100cc Twin Jet, affectionately know as a Twin Tin because of their tinny exhaust sound. Three months later I traded it in on 305cc twin as all my buddies were moving up. Both these bikes had the Autolube system.
I also worked for a motorcycle dealer in the Parts Department one summer because my government job was sent to the Shediac, New Brunswick to create employment there. The dealer had a contest to see who could sell the most 350 R5s in a week. The nice looking lady there sold one a day. I was offered a dealers discount and bought one as well.
That was my favourite Yamaha, it would actually "do the ton".
Rode it for 10,000 miles that year and sold it the next for what I paid for it because it was in perfect shape.
Easy bike to maintain, light, nimble, and quick for its size.
