In the mid-90's, I rode to Yosemite with a lady friend, she on her '80's 883 Sporster and me on my ZG1000 Concours. She was very loyal to HD and wouldn't be caught dead sitting on a Japanese bike, let alone ride one. Well, somewhere north on US395 I convinced her to swap bikes for a few miles. I jumped on her Sporty and was immediately appalled as to how much it vibrated and shook at 65 mph, how poorly it rode, and just its lack of refinement. Plus, I was a gorilla on a tricycle. We stopped after a few miles. She climbed off my Concours and had a grin as wide as a country mile. She couldn't believe how smooth, powerful, comfortable and easy to ride it was. It didn't convince her to open her mind to other brands, but my ride on her bike certainly closed mine.
