Took Sparky's NC700X out yesterday to run a few errands. The sandy road that fronts our home is in poor shape from drought and the NC is so much easier to handle on such a road. Heading home from my mission I couldn't help but take the longest route. This bike is such a delight to ride. It handles dirt roads with ease, cruises smooth as silk at 70+ turning fewer RPM's than my CB at highway speeds, all day comfy seat and fine brakes despite the single front disc. The NC would make a reasonable light touring bike if equipped with the right accessories and I would not hesitate to ride one cross country. Only mods made thus far is a Puig screen to replace the tiny OE and have lowered the bike about 20 mm front and rear. I am a fan of the 650 V-strom (Sparky has owned two of them) but the NC700X is better in every respect. Been averaging about 65 mpg too.

(+1) I find the NC750XD complements the CB1100 very well. Between the two, the riding experience spectrum is quite wide. I have ridden the Strom 650 and it is a functionally fine machine - but maybe a tad too ugly for some.

The NC is indeed capable of distance touring. I can reach 400 kms on the rather small tank of gas. For my body, I last longer on the NC on a per stretch basis. For pure sport and looks, the CB is it. However, I have had incredible feedback from people on the great looks of the NC. I did not expect that.
