Back in 2012 I looked at the V7 and the CB, bought the CB. I already had a Griso so another Guzzi was attractive but truth be told I bought the Griso because I didn't think Honda was going to bring the CB to the States or I never would have bought her.
Being tall with a lot of inseam that generation of V7 was not exactly a good fit (and for the money, the CB came with more power, larger frame, - it was simply a better value). I was able to test ride the V7 and I found it a fun bike to ride, just felt small. That said, I'm eyeing the V9.
People tour on the V7's and like it. It is very capable. On paper the CB is a superior machine; but it really boils down to you and what you are looking for in a motorcycle and the job you expect it to do. Some of us can afford more than one bike to scratch the different itches and the V7 can do wonders for some. If you, for what ever reason(s), are limited to one bike, I think the CB makes more sense. For me anyway.
