My wife is very lucky that we live in a small, upstairs condo. I can't drag a motorcyle up there!
When my first wife and I separated, we agreed that I would keep the house, but she would get everything inside it. Which left me single, with a nice, blank canvas to decorate, by myself. My wall art included manifolds, valve covers and other parts, my tables were radiators and tailgates, my couches were van seats. I thought it was awesome. When I started dating again, my potential mates were, usually, not impressed. When I met my current wife, my friends did sort of an "intervention" with me, telling me that she was a keeper, and that I needed clear out the junkyard, and buy some actual, adult furniture or I would lose her.
in 2000, my job sublet me out to Dan Gurney's AAR factory. My job was to go through their warehouses, find interesting items, and auction them off. People who bought some of the more interesting items sent me pictures of what they had done with them. Lots of Indy car tires turned into table bases. Indy car nosecones and rear wings mounted on walls like shelves to hold racing memorabilia. The most creative thing I saw was a guy who bought a full front body clip from a '93 Toyota GTP car. He put lights in the headlight buckets, and hung it vertically in his office, so that the lights were over his desk.
